"It was one evening in July in 2018 that Miguel Cancio Martins, a Portuguese architect, and Marianne Brass, a French expert in cosmetic development, met in Comporta during a dinner with friends. Miguel showed her the project he was working on: the Quinta da Comporta Hotel, a former rice farm that he restored into a luxury hotel overlooking the rice fields. Marianne told him about her professional career in the cosmetics industry and more specifically about the benefits of rice in beauty. Together they created Oryza Lab, a rice-based skincare brand that combines the rice-growing traditions of Comporta with French cosmetic know-how."
